Judi L.
(Webster) Medlin
In early 2003, Judi co-founded The Medlin Group LLC. Her passion
in believing that the right executive leader, grounded in strong
values, compelled by a clear vision, and equipped with an effective
team of motivated people, could accomplish great things, provided
the founding principle for the company. The common thread throughout
Judi’s career is her association with world-class companies,
leaders and corporate cultures. From her recent corporate executive
roles at Dell (Vice President and General Manager), Adobe Systems
(Vice President and General Manager), and Netscape (Vice President,
Director) to her early career mid-level management and sales roles
at Lotus (Director, Senior Manager) and IBM (Team Leader, Marketing
Rep), Judi has been privileged to be involved with some of the best
technology companies in the world.
It
was through her involvement in leading teams, ranging from 10 to
1000 in number, that Judi saw the benefit of combining clear vision
with articulated goals, values, and standards to get people on the
same page. Yet that was not enough. She recognized that the team
could be goal-aligned but still not achieve sustained success without
a strong ability to interact and communicate, both within the team
itself, as well as beyond, to other corporate constituencies and
of course, to the clients and marketplace it served. Finally the
team needed a way to sustain itself, to refresh, renew and reinvent
its members. Judi learned that iterative, proactive coaching, at
all levels, combined with a caring, compassionate concern for the
team members as people, was critical in keeping the team together
and motivated, both through successful times as well as disappointments.
Individuals want to stay on a team and want to perform to the very
best of their ability because they believe in the leader, in the
purpose of the unit, and in their own contribution to it. They find
relevance and meaning in all facets – company (vision), leader,
team, and self.
After over twenty-years in executive management roles for the
companies previously mentioned, Judi decided to put her corporate
leadership experience to work across a broader range of companies.
She joined TMP Worldwide (now monster.com) as a partner in the Global
High Tech and Emerging Technology Practices of the company’s
executive search division. In this role Judi assisted management
boards, entrepreneurs and/or private equity firms to find CXO-level
and high impact VP-level executives for both venture capital funded
technology startups as well as the established industry leaders
specializing in software, networking, hardware, and services.
Judi has served on several corporate committees, both as a Director
and advisory Board member. She is active in the greater Denver community
through her direct involvement with five urban city churches serving
predominantly minority and underprivileged populations. She is also
a volunteer at DenverWorks, a non-profit organization supplying
job expertise and business clothing to the no-and-low income community.
Judi recently completed the 39-mile marathon and a half Avon Foundation
Walk for Breast Cancer. Judi graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton,
IL with a degree in Pre-Medicine and Economics.
